Emily Molinero, with Japanese and Australian roots, was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan. Having spent her life in Japan up to university, she used to feel self-conscious about not being able to speak English well, but she now works as an interpreter and translator in Melbourne. She is also a member of the organising committee for the 34th International Japanese–English Translation Conference (IJET-34), which will be held in Melbourne on 5 and 6 September.
