"Life is fun. I want to express that through my work", said Shogen Ueda, who is about to hold his first ever exhibition in Australia. Shogen was an ordinary salaryman after graduating from university in Japan. One day, he encountered the tinga tinga painting at a shop, and on that night he booked a flight ticket to Tanzania to become a painter. He adapts the painting style from a small community in Tanzania, Tinga Tinga. His works are largely inspired by the villagers who he lived and spent time together. His spontaneous, playful personality is expressed through his beautiful paintings.
Solo Exhibition "Shogen Ueda on the Cusp of Joy" at the Foyer, 101 Collins, Melbourne from 8th till 19th October.
