Australia, Japan and United States announce military exercises in Darwin

Japan will begin regular training with US Marines in Northern Australia, in a show of force against Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific.

The announcement was made after Defence Minister Richard Marles met with US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin and Japanese Defence Minister Gen Nakatani in Darwin on Sunday. Mr Marles says the inclusion of Japanese forces presents a fantastic opportunity for Australia.
