Award winning author Kei Iwaki describes a Japanese boy’s life in Australia: part 2

Kei Iwaki, an award winning Japanese author in Australia, scores another Japanese literature prize in Japan for her second book “Masato”.

‘Masato’ is the name of a Year 6 Japanese boy who has moved to Australia with his family and has started attending a local school.  Masato’s father was transferred for work to Australia. 

 After living in Australia for more than 20 years, Kei tells us what she likes about Australia and shares her thoughts on “Japaneseness” and what makes her still feel Japanese.   

 Kei’s theme for her novels is about languages and human beings.  According to Kei, it’s important for her to have a foreigners' perspective to write her novels.
