The Australian Shakuhachi Festival 2026 took place on the Sunshine Coast from 3 to 6 September. We speak to Japanese shakuhachi performers/instructors Kaoru Kakizakai and Chozan Imoto, and to the festival’s organiser, Dr Lindsay Duggan, president of the Australian Shakuhachi Society.
Shakuhachi concerts
As part of the Shakuhachi Festival organized by the Australian Shakuhachi Society, three concerts are held in Queensland and two in New South Wales. The upcoming concerts will take place in Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
They are scheduled to take place at Roseville New Church in Sydney on the 11th and at Kindlehill School in the Blue Mountains on the 12th.
