Edward Shimada called himself a Takumi, a master craftsman in Japanese, who specializes in bringing old and forgotten stuff to life.

Edward has started transforming old things such as furniture, appliances, and musical instruments left or forgotten in a garage into something artistic, new, and functional by using the craft skills he obtained through work in Japan.
He shares his passion for bringing new life to things which are old and unused but beautiful and full of fond memories. He also tells us how much he enjoys the smiles and positive feedback he receives from customers.
Edward is holding his first solo exhibition at the Incinerator Art Space in Willoughby NSW from the 5th of October. He immigrated to Australia in 1991 and resides in Sydney.
