EU agrees to fund COVID patient border transfers to manage demand on hospitals

In an effort to prevent European hospitals being overwhelmed by a second wave of coronavirus cases the European Union has agreed to fund the transfer of COVID-19 patients across borders for treatment. The move comes as France enters a second nation-wide lockdown.


With infections in Europe now exceeding 10-million, the European Union has agreed to finance the transfer of patients across borders within the bloc to prevent hospitals being overwhelmed. The head of the  European Union Commission, Ursula Von Der Leyen, says at a video conference E-U leaders agreed to better coordinate efforts to battle the virus.
