Takashi Ikegami is a professor and principal investigator at Takashi Ikegami Laboratories at the University of Tokyo. He specialises in artificial life (ALife) and complexity and his work focuses on building and studying ALife systems. Broadcast on the 9th of November, 2017.
Prof. Ikegami has also been known to engage on the border between art and science and has been developing the world’s first android-led opera “Scary Beauty”.
In October, Prof. Ikegami gave a lecture titled “The Future of AI in the Arts” at the Japan Foundation Sydney. In this interview, Prof. Ikegami shares his thoughts on the future of AI in the world of art and explains the difference between AI and ALife.
