Ryuichi Fujimura, a Sydney-based Japanese dancer, had a fateful encounter with dance in Sydney 30 years ago, when he was 26. Mr Fujimura ditched his career in Japan and moved to Australia to dance more.

Mr Fujimura is in his 50s.  In 2014, he started creating three autobiographical solos to look back at his life, especially his encounter with dance and his relationships with dance.

Now the trilogy will be performed in Sydney in August.  Having gone through lockdowns, it took eight years for him to finally showcase the latest third piece in front of an audience.

In the audio, Mr Fujimura explains the stories in the three solos and his dance.

The first and the second work of the trilogy, 'How Did I Get Here?' (2015) and 'How I Practice My Religion' (2017) will be performed at the Old Fitz Theatre's HERENOW Trilogy (Aug 2-6).  The third piece, 'Fall! Falter!! Dance!!!' will be performed at the Riverside Theatre's FORM Dance Projects Let's Dance Double Bill in Parramatta (Aug 11-13).
