Japan will make its sixth consecutive appearance in football's World Cup this year, but the most successful footballing nation in Asia has yet to translate that success beyond the continent.

There is, however, a coach bringing a Japanese flair to a new generation of young players in Australia, and he may just have a future superstar in his mix.

Takao Teramoto has been in Australia for three years and is head coach of Sollev FC.  The 32-year-old runs an academy for young children and is bringing a distinctive philosophy to his football coaching.

And while he is teaching the basic football skills, Teramoto is also passing on his proud Japanese heritage.
