Kate and Cameron are set to represent Australia at the World Cosplay Championship, the headline event of the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan. For them, cosplay is about much more than creativity and craftsmanship—it’s a community where they’ve built lasting friendships and found a true sense of belonging.
From July 31 to August 2, Nagoya will host the World Cosplay Summit, one of the world’s biggest celebrations of anime, manga and pop culture.
The event is expected to attract up to 300,000 visitors, with its centrepiece, the World Cosplay Championship, featuring competitors from 41 countries and regions.
Representing Australia this year are Kate and Cameron, performing as Pokémon’s iconic Team Rocket duo, Jessie and James.
After taking out the national title at Sydney’s SMASH! convention earlier this month, the longtime friends are now preparing to compete on cosplay’s biggest international stage.
