More than 18 years in New South Wales parliament for Gladys Berejiklian has come to an abrupt end after the Premier announced her resignation.

On Friday, a noticeably emotional Premier made her own bombshell announcement - her resignation.

It followed the state's anti-corruption monitoring service's revelation it is investigating Ms Berejiklian for breach of public trust.

ICAC revealed it is investigating Gladys Berejiklian's conduct between 2012 and 2018, during which time she was involved in a close personal relationship with the former member for Wagga Wagga, Daryl Maguire.
