“I simply feel so good, just like my heart is about to explode”, said Rie, a professional Bassoonist based in Melbourne. She loves her job of being surrounded by the harmony of different instruments, being lit on the stage and thunderous applause.
“Why did you start playing the Bassoon?” “Because I had big hands! ”
Rie’s answer was slightly unexpected, though Bassoon is a tall instrument and it would be hard for people with small hands to reach the tone holes. She added that since she started playing at school, she was fascinated about its versatility and the subtle character.
Rie is a professional Bassoonist, occasionally playing at Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. She also runs children’s music classes in Melbourne’s Southeast. She aims to inspire young children by providing opportunities to see, listen, touch and feel the sound of orchestral instruments.
