Kosira Tatekawa, a multi-talented Japanese "rakugo" performer in Japan, will hold his first stage performance in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne this month. Rakugo is a traditional style of Japanese comedy involving comic story telling by a solo performer who sits down on the stage and has a 300 year history. Even though Rakugo is one of the traditional performing arts in Japan and has some formality within the industry, Kosira said Rakugo is a performance for the masses and something to be enjoyed casually by everyone, not just for people with an understanding of the art form.
