The Brisbane Seinendan, a Japanese community group in Brisbane, was established in 2017.

The Brisbane Seinendan (young persons' association in Japanese) held its first annual Japanese festival, Matsuri Japan Festival, in Brisbane in 2018.  Unfortunately the festival was cancelled this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Brisbane Seinendan has been trying to make the annual festival better and bigger every year not only to showcase Japanese culture better but to offer a platform for Japanese immigrants to gather and enjoy catch-ups.

In the audio, Mr Taka Uematsu, a Brisbane-based Japanese writer and the president of the Brisbane Seinendan, talks about how he and his supporters started the group and how important it is for them to hold the annual festival for the Japanese community in Brisbane.
