
Dr. Nakanishi, associate professor at the University of Canberra, is an expert on disaster management. She has visited several disaster-affected area internationally. Dr. Nakanishi has focused on the studies of the recovery of the communities which were affected by earthquakes in 2011, which occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand and the Tohoku area in Japan.

In the audio, Dr. Nakanishi shares what she saw and felt during her visit to the South Coast in New South Wales, which happened in mid-January. Dr. Nakanishi also emphasizes that getting the affected communities involved in the planning of the recovery is so critical even though it would take more time.
