Matt Alt is a Tokyo-based American author and translator who introduces Japanese pop culture to the world through his writing of articles and books, as well as his translations of games and manga. We asked him about the key aspects of learning Japanese and the challenges of translating Japanese manga. Mr Alt appears at the Melbourne Writers Festival (7-10) and the Sydney Writers' Festival (17-24) in May.
