The Sydney court refused bail for the Kurdish journalist charged with links to terrorism. Mr Lelikan was arrested in a police raid last week at his home in Dee Why, in Sydney's North. He has been accused of links with Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), which is listed as a terrorist organisation in Australia since 2005.

Mr Lelikan's lawyer had told the court that his client has been intimidated by ISIS supporters in the Silverwater prison in Sydney.

The court's decision was unexpected by Renas Lelikan's supporters from the Kurdish and the wider community.

The case will return to court in September.
