They come from two very different cultures, but through an exhibition called Kotodama, which means "word spirit" in Japanese they connect.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Japanese ink artist Junko Azukawa and Kurdish visual artist avan Anwar who have very different cultural and linguistic backgrounds but have found they have the same value and respect for the spirit and energy held in words.
In Kurdish culture, words are mystical tools used in poems to evoke a significant power and impact on people’s emotions. The exhibition is on 18/03/2022 in Ivanhoe, Melbourne.
