Dr Beşikçi spent 17 years in total in prison for studying the Kurdish society and defending Kurdish human rights in Turkey.

 

He has published over 40 books mostly about Kurds.

 

In this part of the interview we ask him about his first trip abroad in 2013, which was to south Kurdistan, his opinion on the call for referendum for an independent Kurdistan, and the current situation of north Kurdistan.
