Falak, displaced from her homeland by Islamic State (IS) nine years ago, channels her energy into writing and reciting original love stories, traditional songs and poetry.


Falak is a young Kurdish woman from Kobani, who is urrently, in her second year at university, pursuing studies in the health in Germany. Since her childhood, Falak has nurtured a passion for crafting love stories that delve into themes of human connection and a deep affection for her homeland. Alongside her writing endeavours, she takes pleasure in reciting classical Kurdish songs and poetry. In the absence of a camera, she ingeniously employs a mirror as a makeshift tool to capture her experiences. In this interview, Falak shares her enthusiasm for language, culture, and love for writing, while also expressing her desire to publish a book in the near future.
