The Kurdish community in Sydney celebrated Newroz with a vibrant cultural gathering in Hyde Park on March 29. The event, organised by Sydney-based community groups, brought families and guests together to celebrate the arrival of this important event in the Kurdish calander. Traditional music, dancing and colourful Kurdish clothes adorned the park. The Hyde Park event highlighted the importance of cultural preservation within the Kurdish diaspora, with Kurds from all parts of Kurdistan taking part. SBS Kurdish spoke with attendees about what this important event meant to them and how it brought the community together.
