Every year, millions of people give their time to volunteer work, which benefits communities, those in need, nonprofit organisations, and the volunteers themselves. This year's theme for National Volunteer Week, which takes place from May 19 to 25, is "Connecting Communities," Gemma Rygate, CEO of The Centre of Volunteering, provides an overview of this significant event.
