14-year old Nikola Stojcevski recently performed several instrumental numbers at the Macedonian Cultural Festival in Williamstown where festival goers were captivated by the young musician’s rendition of Macedonian folk favourites.
Nikola says:
“I’m 14 years old and a student at the Emmanuel College at Point Cook and at age 4 began playing the clarinet. I attend musical school in Hawthorn. My father Goran, who is also a clarinet player, introduced me to the instrument and is the source of my inspiration. At music school I mainly learn classical music but in my free time I play Macedonian songs and dances.
I want Macedonian music to continue to be played and heard here in Australia and that it is not forgotten.
I’d like to be professionally involved in music and one day become a teacher, passing on the secrets of the clarinet to future generations”.
