Despite the impressive performance of the song "Proud" at the Eurovison Song Contest 2019 Grand Final, Macedonian contestant Tamara Todevska finished eighth. She was so close to victory, winning maximum points from the professional juries of many countries including the UK, Switzerland, Albania and Serbia. However, although Tamara failed to get enough televoting points, this was the best ranking of a Macedonian song at Eurovision to date. Tamara managed to win the sympathies of many, including the famous British musician Boy George, who wrote on his Twitter "Macedonia so far for me"
