Jane Velkovski, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy and is also an advocate for children with disabilities in Macedonia, spoke at the UNICEF United Nations summit in New York as part of the celebration of World Children's Day. This year's event coincides with the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. 11-year-old Jane Velkovski sent a message to all the children of the world "to be persistent and never give up on their dreams" while telling the adults "you have to do everything for the rights of the child and no more discrimination"

'My parents are helping me now, but I want to be independent. Surely there are many, many children who share the same opinion. I want to tell them to be persistent and never give up on their dreams. They have to break down the barriers in front of them and do good things that unfortunately are increasingly missing. And for adults I want to tell them that the rights of children must be respected and the barriers to be lifted - To end discrimination'-said Jane.
