Court orders detention of Janakieski and Ristovski, Veljanoski has parliamentary immunity

The judge in the pre-trial procedure ordered the detention of former VMRO-DPMNE Ministers Spiro Ristovski and Mile Janakieski. They were arrested in relation to an incident in parliament on April 27, 2017. The former Parliamentary Speaker Trajko Veljanoski was also detained, but left the court on account of his parliamentary immunity. The prosecutor’s office said the former ministers were suspected of organising the storming of parliament on the 27 April 2017. Prosecutor Vilma Russkoska said that the request for detention was due to the potential to escape, influencing of witnesses and obstruction of the investigation.
