Queensland government abolishes so-called ‘gay panic’ defence

The state's LGBTI* community has long campaigned for the clarification of the so-called gay panic defence that has allowed the killing of homosexual men to be treated as manslaughter, not murder.The South Australian government which still has the defence on the statute books, has indicated that it too, wants to pursue reform in this area.
