Slavche Tanevski Macedonian Designer at Mercedes Benz

Slavche Tanevski's signature underpins Mercedes-Benz Models GLC Coupe and Concept EQA, after six proud years of working for the automobile giant. Slavche spoke with SBS about his design work, but also about the challenges and changes that are the future of the automobile industry.

I got the "Entry card " for the Mercedes-Benz design studio in the 4th semester of my studies when I won the design contest. The award was a 6-month practice at the main design centre in Sindelfingen. Since then, I've been there for 7 years. On two occasions as a student and immediately after graduation, from 2011, as a professional designer.

Slavce says: "I'm still starting with  pen end a paper, then switching to Photoshop, but computer tools are being used because of the too fast pace of work from the very beginning."

To express the car’s character, the front end is inspired by Alexander’s helmet, a symbol of power, leadership and with a sense of protective aesthetics. At the same time the traditional Mercedes-Benz grille is subtly indicated.

As Slavche explains, “I intended to do a car with a timeless beauty. So I asked myself, what body, which products have this quality? – Musical instruments.”

The Mercedes-Benz Aria Concept is a vision from Macedonian designer Slavche Tanevski developed at the Mercedes-Benz Design. The Aria is an electric, luxury car for the year 2030.
