“Family is the greatest wealth,” says Sotirka Jovanovska in her conversation with SBS Macedonian. Despite approaching her 101st birthday, she continues to live independently in her home in the Sydney suburb of Arncliffe.

Migrating from the Macedonian village of Ljuboyno to Australia in 1966, Sotirka speaks with deep respect and affection for her adopted home.

“Australia is number one for me,” she says, praising the care it offers to everyone—both young and old.

Sotirka has been one of SBS Macedonian’s most loyal listeners since the station first began broadcasting over half a century ago.
