The letter that the Holy Synod of the MOC-OA sent to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in which it asks it to be an Orthodox Mother church, if they recognize the autocephalous status of the MOC-OA, has caused an avalanche of reactions.

The letter that the Holy Synod of the MOC-OA sent to the BOC asking her to be her mother church is an attempt to gain autocephaly through a different path, including by-passing negotiations with the SPC - says journalist and religious analyst Branko Gjorgevski.

Gjorgjevski is specific "the letter will remain without a specific response and any response will be postponed. This is due to pressure from other Orthodox churches based on their agreement to have full concensus when recognizing a new church."
