Former President of the Macedonian School Council for NSW and this year's winner of the Macedonian Sun Lifetime Achievement Award, traditionally awarded by the editorial staff of the Macedonian Telephone directory, remembers the first Macedonian language classes in 1976 , part of the then Yugoslav school in Newtown. There were 450 Macedonian language students and 55 of the first graders were in his class. Mr Kabrovski remembers that some of them had to sit on cushions on the floor.
