"World First" laws which give the Australian government the power to cancel the passports of registered child sex offenders, have netted only a handful of the roughly 800 who travelled abroad in 2016. Figures from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade obtained by SBS World News show 29 paedophiles have had their passports cancelled in the law's first 8 months.
