Death toll from Indonesian tsunami to rise

Scientists believe underwater landslides triggered by a volcanic eruption in the Sunda Strait, caused the Tsunami in Indonesia on Saturday evening. The tsunami has left at least 222 dead and more than 840 injured, with authorities expecting the numbers to rise.

The Tsunami struck coastal areas along western Java and southern Sumatra Islands at night and without warning. 

The waves smashed through houses, hotels and beachside buildings, leaving a path of destruction behind it.

Survivors say there were no warning signs and by the time they saw the wave there was nothing they could do.
