Mixed results for team Nepal at the Melbourne Renegades champions league competition

Team Nepal won against Bangladesh by 23 runs but lost to Sri Lanka by 60 runs on the first day of the Melbourne Renegades Champions League cricket competition held in Melbourne.

Players from Melbourne's Nepali, Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Afghani community are representing their countries in this month long competition held Sunday 12 November 17.

In their first game of the day against Bangladesh, Team Nepal won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a target of 117 runs. Sushan Gurung and Kushal Tuladhar were the highest scorers for team Nepal, scoring 23 and 16 runs each.

In reply, team Bangladesh could only score 94 runs within 20 overs loosing 6 wickets.

Nepali bowler Rajkumar Gurung took two wickets and gave eight runs in four overs, earning himself the man of the match award.

Match against Sri Lanka

Team Nepal's second game of the day against Sri Lanka didn't go according to plan for captain Sunam Gautam.

Deciding to bat after winning the toss, Sri Lankan players set up a big challenge for team Nepal scoring 160 runs. In reply, Nepali players were all out by 100 runs.

Nepal's next game is against India and Afghanistan on 19th of November.

In other games of the day, team India defeated Sri Lanka and Pakistan and Afghanistan defeated Pakistan and Bangladesh as well.
