China to retaliate against new US tariffs

United States tariffs on 45 billion (AU$) of Chinese imports have come into effect, with the Chinese government saying it will retaliate with punitive measures.


The U-S tariffs cover thousands of Chinese goods, including high-tech components such as semiconductor chips for televisions, cars, computers and smartphones. We spoke with economist Krishna Hamal on what this means to US consumers and also the world economy as a whole.
