China's Belt and Road project has often been referred to as the 21st century's "Silk Road". The project aims to connect Asia, Africa and Europe via highways on land and dedicated sea fares through various water waterways, seas and oceans. Many around the globe have expressed their concerns over the project as they deem this will increase the Chinese clout and influence which will affect mostly smaller and economically weaker nations. But what is it really, the Belt and Road project? We ask Jagannath Adhikari from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia.
