The Director of Nepal's immigration department says if visitors are unhappy with Kathmandu's international airport then they should lodge a complaint rather than vandalising immigration counters and mistreating staff.

Ram Chandra Tiwari's comments came after a Nepali origin Australian citizen was fined for vandalising an immigration desk at the airport.

Mr Tiwari spoke to SBS Nepali about the incident.
