The Deputy Prime Minister has announced a significant shift in the AUKUS deal, with Australia to purchase three second hand nuclear submarines and move to focus on new unmanned underwater drones. The shift comes amid doubts over US capability to produce enough new vessels, prompting concerns Australia will receive less capable and shorter lasting submarines.
