SBS Nepali was recently in Shepparton, a regional city in northern Victoria located about two-and-a-half hours' drive from Melbourne's CBD, as part of an SBS Audio visit with the multicultural local communities on Friday, 12 June 2026. Community members told SBS Nepali that Shepparton has increasingly become a preferred destination for Nepali-speaking migrants in recent years. This podcast episode features our conversation with residents Bishal Jung Kunwar and Bhesh Raj Baral. Kunwar is the Secretary of the Greater Shepparton Nepali Community and an Early Years CALD Outreach Officer with the Greater Shepparton City Council, while Baral, a Parks Service Officer at the Council, is an executive member of the local Nepali Rhinos Football Club. The duo spoke to SBS Nepali about life in Shepparton, opportunities and challenges for the local Nepali community, and the ongoing FIFA World Cup among other topics.
