Liberal Democrat senator David Leyonhjelm has triggered angry responses after thanking what he called "young brown men" for their contribution to Australia's workforce. The Greens and multicultural groups say young migrants do not need his thanks, labeling his comments patronising and condescending.

Senator Leyonhjelm has told the Senate the young working migrants are doing jobs shunned by many other Australians.
