Lenin Bista is a former Maoist child soldier who has been advocating for the rights of other children who were recruited by the then Maoist rebel forces. The peace process and the military adjustment process can be used by the police to use the army for the rights of the soldiers. Last August, he was stopped at Nepal's only international airport by the local immigration officials as he was preparing to take a flight to Bangkok. A Thailand based organisation - Asian Resource Centre invited him to partake in a seminar titled "Youth in conflict areas: Healing in peacebuilding through social engagement". But, recently he has returned from a trip to Europe where he met with several local human rights organisations. Our Nepal correspondent chats with Bista on his European tour.
