"Very important to remember": Gurkhas march in Anzac Day parade 2019

Former Gurkha soldiers or their family members have taken part in the Anzac Day commemorations.


Major Bhala Bahadur Rai, currently serving in the Australian Defence Force led the march in Sydney. The participants included Shyam Gurung, organiser of the Nepali contingent and Ms Rukmani Dewan, who served as a nurse for 10 years in the British army.

Richard Lowe, former member of the Gurkha regiment, who can also speak and sing in Nepali joined the Sydney parade. 

Indira Chhetri joined in as a visitor, watching her father march.
