In its annual report, Surf Life saving Australia says among the 116 people who lost their lives in the nation's coastal areas this year, half of them drowned at the beach. According to the organization, up to 14% of the people who drowned were from migrant background. Hence "proper education and awareness" remains crucial to save lives says Surf Life saving Australia.
