The Mayor of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, who initiated a peaceful protest on July 27 and subsequently went on a hunger strike, has reached an agreement with the Nepal government. The mayor had initiated a protest, demanding the promotion and use of bamboo and other locally produced materials. Nepal correspondent Prayas Dulal spoke to Tirtha Raj Bhattarai on Tuesday, July 29, before he was taken to the hospital after his health deteriorated.
