This year, Barangaroo opened and closed their celebrations with two traditional ceremonies.

It was the first Survival Day for the newly opened Barangaroo Reserve, and it began with recognising Australia's First People.

The day at Barangaroo Reserve on Sydney Harbour began with a tradtional smoking ceremony. Many watched as the Aboriginal flag was raised on the Harbour Bridge while Jessica Mauboy sang the anthem in English and a medley of local languages

In the evening, there was a sunset ceremony. The event combined song and dance from across all generations and closed out the day at Barangaroo.

Clarence Slockee, from Barangaroo Delivery Authority, was the Event Co-ordinator for the day and spoke to us about how it all came together.
