“With people power, I know we can stop fracking. That’s why I’m coming down to Sydney, to stand with students and workers striking for the climate.” - Gadrian Hoosan
Garrwa and Yanyuwa community leaders from the Indigenous community of Borroloola in the Northern Territory have travelled to Sydney to address tens of thousands of people at the Climate Strike rally on Friday September 20.
Community leader Gadrian Hoosan says the demands of the Climate Strike align strongly with the aspirations of his community.
Traditional Owners and communities are trying to stop new gas projects that encroach on their Country threatening the environment and Culture.
The Territorian delegation is also calling on the government to fund a “just transition” for communities impacted by the climate crisis.
