Confined 14 giving voice and pathways to Indigenous artists

I don’t think you should underestimate the power of culture in the rehabilitation process for Indigenous offenders. We work from a cultural basis to then express that through art-making — to try to reconnect some of the fragments of cultural dislocation and put the pieces back together - Kent Morris, Barkindji, The Torch CEO Source: Supplied
Confined 14 coincides with National Reconciliation Week, is on display at the Glen Eira Town Hall Gallery till the 4th of June 2023. Presented by The Torch, confined is an annual exhibition of artworks from Indigenous artists currently in or recently released from prisons in Victoria. For the first time this year, The Torch is also presenting a satellite exhibition called In the Torchlight, which gives an expanded voice to In-Community women artists who are pursuing their cultural practice post-release.
