The Peak organisations that signed the Federal Election 2016 Redfern Statement, have requested that within the month of the newly formed government that a meeting between the Prime Minister and National Congress of Australia's First Peoples and a Coalition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders and organisations be held.
The Communique has issued recommendations with the request for a Senior Cabinet Minister to walk and work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The group have also called for a Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs to employ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff.
The final steps include that the incoming Government host an National First Peoples Summit to establish the framework for how all governments and Australia's first peoples work together to address the challenges that we are met with daily.
