Parrtjima festival is well underway in Alice Springs, bringing thousands of visitors and showcasing both local and interstate artists.


Parrtjima is the meeting place where old meets new – and it is also a unique festival in light in the Red Centre of Australia.

The festival invites visitors to experience the tens of thousands years old culture using modern technology through captivating light installations.

Paul Ah Chee, Yankunytatjara, Wankangurru and Arrernte man from Alice Springs, who is a Director at NT Major Events spoke to NITV Radio about the event and explained what this year’s theme “Sky Country” means.

The free event has started in the MacDonnell Ranges in Central Australia and according to the organisers has already attracted thousands of visitors. Parrtjima 2022 ends April 17th .
